Ryan Sanderson
Sr. Vice Commander - Navy

After serving 25 years in the Navy from 1993 to 2018, Ryan retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (E8). He served in many duty stations around the world including California, Texas, Sicily, Italy, Virginia, and Pearl Harbor. He currently serves as a Career Readiness Counselor in Grayling serving the U.S. Army Michigan National Guard, providing workforce training, education information, employment opportunities and financial literacy services to our Nation’s heroes. Currently he is the Veterans Community Engagement Officer for the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency helping connect veterans and their families to available benefits and resources they have earned.
 
Ryan joined the VFW in 2019 and is a member of the Honor Guard and is often a participant in  Funeral Ceremonies. He served as Junior Vice Commander and is current chairing the Wreaths Across America project for the Post. 

He has been married to Melissa for over 25 years and has two teenage sons; he grew up in Adrian, Michigan and relocated to Gaylord in 2018.
