We annually places 1500 flags on veterans' graves in 12 Otsego county cemeteries; we collect tattered flags that need to be retired and sell new flags. To buy a new flag from the VFW, click on "More Info" button.
Our Color Guard and Rifle Team leads several local parades each year, demonstrating patriotism and loyalty to our flag, and honoring all those who have served.
More than 11 million dollars is raised each year through the distribution of Buddy Poppies... and all of it goes entirely to veterans welfare at the national, state and local levels. It includes direct assistance programs for needy and disabled veterans and active service members and their families in your own community.
Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! Monthly Post and Auxiliary meetings are held the third Thursday of the month at 6 PM in the VFW Room of the Gaylord Bowling Center (1200 Gornick, Gaylord MI).
